How To Personalise A Skincare Routine To Suit Your Skin Type

We don’t Sell You “Skincare”… We “Care for Your Skin!”

Over the last few weeks, I have been emphasising the importance of developing and sticking to a skincare routine to achieve healthy skin, though I realise that with our busy lives this may seem like utopia and some of you may be dismissive and ready to ignore this message.

After all, some of you have tried so many treatments or products and have found that they just don’t work for you or the issues you would want resolved. Yes, sometimes, this is the case as our skin reflects the pressure that your mind and body we are exposed to and with stress our skin appears to misbehave.

However, “don’t throw the baby out with the bath water”… the secret to identifying what really suits your skin is to understand what is going on with your body and mind and how these affect your skin. This is critical to Personalising your Skincare Routine. So, become aware of what you are experiencing and how this may affect your physiology and mindset that silently can have impact on your skin.

Sadly, we become so used or incentive to all the noise around us that we hardly pay any attention to our body’s responses until they are glaringly in our faces, literally, then we want instant fixes because we have no time! Everything must happen now, or better, yesterday.  Sounds familiar?

This need for instant fixes is well reflected in the census statistics Data collected in the USA show that in the last 3 months of 2020, 1.68 million people spent more than $500 person on skincare products, amounting close to a US$1Billion! The data doesn’t go into the percentage of people that were satisfied, but intuitively it is very likely that some people were not, so products would get discarded from lack of efficacy and some brands considered useless.

Slowdown to Listen to Your Body & Mind

Make time to look after yourself, and naturally care for your skin.

Use your skincare routine to your advantage and to suit you as if you are having a conversation with skin, your body and your mind. Personalise it!

Let your soul drift away to funny moments in the day or to quiet times at nighttime... and if for some reason there were none… create some by thinking of your pets or those of friends that will bring a smile to your face. You can do this even if you are allergic to cats, dogs, birds... you name it. These silly thoughts help you to relax through being in a happy place.

Actually, when I was a kid, I always heard my great aunts saying that laughing detoxified the liver to improve our natural skin glow, and although I have not been able to find any scientific evidence for this, I must admit that when we laugh, we relax, and we look better, younger more appealing.

So, what have you got to lose?

Beyond Skincare Routines and more on Caring For Your Skin - Personalising Approaches

In a previous article I have discussed the importance Skincare Routines, and the 5 Key Steps that fundamentally ought to be followed. As a reminder, they are listed below. In addition, suggestions were also made on how to further simplify these Steps.

  1. Cleansing
  2. Toning
  3. Nourishing Serum
  4. Moisturising
  5. Sunscreen (for the day), or Special Treat (for the night)

Of course, simplifying routines may not be straight forward to everyone, hence on the 5th July 2024 we launched a 30 minutes Free of Charge Consultation Platform for a one-to-one online discussion with myself, using your phone or laptop, or however you go online.

The major goal with these consultations is to be able to personalise a skincare routine to suit you.

At Azurlis™ we strive to provide you with practical, realistic and up to date information on the efficacy and possible timeline for visible results, bearing in mind that the more consistently you follow a skincare routine, the more efficacious this will be. But, of course, we are all different and often adjustments need to be made to ensure that the products benefits are maximised for your needs, whilst taking into account your genetics, lifestyle and environment.

This is why personalising your skincare routine is critical for great looking skin and overall wellbeing.

We are here to help you to care for your skin, your biggest organ, rather than just selling great products. So, don't hesitate to reach out.

Setting a daily skincare routine even if you just moisturise, is 10 fold better than using 4 or 5 different types of products, erratically.

This consultation will cover:

  • A discussion on your specific skin concerns.
  • How you are managing these.
  • What is and what is not working for you.
  • A review of the products you are using.
  • The products that are best suited to your skin by prioritising what is likely to be most beneficial and maximise the chances of product efficacy.
  • Assessment of the concerns, in the event of these needing intervention by a healthcare practitioner.

Following the consultation:

  • You will receive a summary of the discussed and any recommendations we considered.

How to Book a Consultation

By clicking on "Book A Video Consultation" you will be taken to a page with a booking schedule as shown below.
